Meet Ms. Beirne!
Hi y'all! My name is Fiona Beirne and I am lucky enough to live my dream of being a 5th grade teacher. This is my second year at Blazier Elementary and my first year teaching 5th grade.
I graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Applied Learning and Development. I received additional certificates in Social Emotional Learning and Literacy Specialization. Before attending college, my family and I moved around frequently across the country. Moving so many times has allowed me to meet a variety of people and develop a love for travel and experience.
I live with my cat named Luna, whom I love dearly, and my roommate who is also a teacher in AISD! When I'm not at school, I love to travel, read, and paint. Growing up, my favorite authors were Roald Dahl and Sharon Creech and I would devour their books. My love for reading is very important to me and I hope it proves contagious.
Teaching became a dream of mine when I was a 5th grade student. I had a fantastic teacher who made a genuine effort to recognize student voices and interests - an effort I try to incorporate in my own teaching.
Here are some of my FAVORITE things:
Book: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Food: Enchiladas, sushi, biscuits & gravy
Hobbies: Reading, traveling, seeing live music, having dance parties in my living room
Sports Team: Texas Rangers
